Try out these techniques to make your boring job interesting.
Change your Attitude
As with other challenges in life, a change of outlook can help handle boring jobs better. Avoid the thought process that you can do nothing to make your job enjoyable. There is always something that you can change in yourself and your job to make it more interesting.
Create your Own On-Job Challenges
Search for challenges within the existing job. Set daily targets to achieve these goals. A concrete goal motivates you to perform. Develop a "career future" chart; write down where you want to be (e.g. more roles and responsibilities, promotions, etc.,) and what you want to achieve ahead, in this chart.
Focus on your goal. If the new goal requires new skills, learn them. Discuss about your goals with your mentor or boss and seek their guidance. Having clear career direction propels you into action, boosts your self-confidence and increases career advancement opportunities.
Take the Initiative
Approach your boss and express your interest to get involved in new projects. Inform about the type of projects you're interested in and what skills you can deliver to the projects. Taking initiatives increases opportunities; gives you a goal; and enhances your reputation with the boss. After all, an action-taker is most bosses' favorite.
Make friends with co-workers. It's not necessary to continue these friendships outside of office. Work mates have a friendly ear to listen to each other's on-job woes and frustrations. On-job friendships can provide the motivation and enthusiasm to alleviate boredom resulting from work.
Control Job Stress
Controlling job-related stress is more in your control than you may think. Avoid postponing boring tasks as it only increases unpleasantness; deal with them instantly. Shun unproductive thinking on factors you cannot control (e.g. boss' comments, changing client requirements, etc.). Watch out for your health to perform better; avoid habits such as skipping eating to finish deadlines.
Discuss your state of mind with your mentor(s) and co-workers you trust. They might have gone through a similar phase and offer you sound advice on the situation. Trusted counsel gives you direction and the realization that you're not alone.
