APPLE has reportedly signed a new deal with smartphone rival Samsung for 160 million OLED panels to use in the iPhone 8 ahead of its September 2017 UK release date.
iPhone 8 could be a huge success for rival Samsung.
Apple is rumoured to have signed a new deal with smartphone rival Samsung – who is hard at work on the upcoming launch of its own phone, the hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8.
Apple has reportedly placed an order for 160 million OLED panels from Samsung to use in the iPhone 8.
The Apple iPhone 8, which some sources claim will be marketed as iPhone X (to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone), is widely-tipped to sport an OLED screen when it debuts in September 2017.

The OLED panels are expected to be between 5.2- and 5.8-inches. Apple is purportedly planning a drastic redesign to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone range
iPhone 8 is predicted to debut a new industrial design – dropping the aluminium unibody in favour of glass on the front and back of the device, surrounded with a metal bumper.
The OLED display is also rumoured to be curved, wrapping around the device and shrinking the physical footprint of the device.
Apple is also expected to drop the Home Button from the front of the phone – a first for the iPhone.
Rumours indicate the iPhone will have almost no bezels bordering the display, and will see the Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology somehow integrated into the screen itself.
In 2016, Apple and Samsung agreed a 100 million unit deal for its panels.Read More...
