Easily share all the reservations for your trip with the tap of a button, manually update your itinerary, and use the app to keep your train and bus reservations organized.
Google is beefing up its travel app with some handy new additions for those planning to get away.
The Web giant on Wednesday announced three new features for Trips, which is available for iOS and Android. You can now easily share all the reservations for your trip with the tap of a button, manually update your itinerary, and use the app to keep your train and bus reservations organized.
"No need to dig up every individual hotel, flight and travel reservation and forward them from your inbox," Google Trips Product Managers Emily Fifer and Stefan Frank wrote in a blog post. Just tap the arrow button in Trips to share your entire itinerary. Recipients will get an email with all your reservation details, and see them in the app if they also have it.
Meanwhile, you can now update your itinerary with free-form notes for things you need to remember, and manually add flight, hotel, car, and restaurant reservation details when you don't have an email confirmation. To make an update, just head over to the Reservations section and press the "+" button in the bottom right corner.
Finally, the app should now be a lot more useful when you're planning train or bus adventures.
"More than 3 million rail and bus reservations are booked weekly by travelers around the world," Fifer and Frank wrote. "So starting now, all your past and upcoming train and bus reservations will automatically be organized in one place for you in Trips—along with your flight, hotel, car and restaurant reservations."
Google launched Trips — aka a "personalized tour guide in your pocket" — this past September with support for the top 200 cities in the world. The app lets you download your reservations and maps of specific cities, so you can browse nearby attractions, check hours and locations, and review your saved places even when you're offline.
"On average, nearly a quarter of Trips users are offline for more than seven hours at a time while traveling, and nearly 70 percent use the offline feature and download trips in advance," Fifer and Frank wrote.Read More...
